Cape Clear Ferry Boats
Cape Clear Ferries are the largest and most comfortable ferries operating this route and our brightly-coloured orange boats are unmissable on the waters.
There are viewing decks on board with plenty of space to move around and 360 degree views of the spectacular scenery.
But you can also enjoy comfortable coach-style seating in the warm indoors for up to 95 people, depending on the ferry.
Our permanent crew are all lifelong seafarers and being on the waters around Cape Clear Island is like a second home for them. The crew, many of whom are fluent Irish speakers, are supplemented by seasonal staff, also drawn from our tight-knit coastal communities, during the busy periods of the year.
Oilean Cléire (Cape Clear Island) is a Gaeltacht Island. This remote and ancient Island lies 6 miles from the mainland in West Cork within the dramatic landscape of the Wild Atlantic Way.
Safety is our priority on Cape Clear Ferries. All our ferries are full licenced by the Department of the Marine. All our crew are full trained to the Department of Marine standards.
In the unlikely event of an emergency our vessels are full equipped with lifesaving appliances which includes Life jackets These are stored on board for each passengers but are only to be worn in case of an emergency.
Please note that our ferries are for passengers only. Bicycles and kayaks are permitted on board at a cost of €2 per item. Please contact Cape Clear Ferries in advance to book your space.
Toilets are on board all ferries, which are all dog friendly – as long as they are on a suitable lead and kept outdoors during sailing.
